Emi at the ocean

Hi <3 I’m a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist (L.Ac) in the state of California. Through the transformative work of acupuncture, I’ve found a more healthful, peaceful, and beautiful life. It’s my aim to facilitate the same with whomever is interested in this special work. But it also doesn’t have to be that serious - East Asian medicine can help you feel good, less stressed, more joyful and present, a better dancer, a better friend to yourself, more accepting of life as it is.

Then again, it is my style to be a little serious - I’m as learned and broadminded possible. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s in Chinese Medicine. I study classical Neijing Nature-based medicine with Ed Neal, MD, which is the bedrock of my clinical practice. With Dr. Liu Dong, L.Ac, I am a student of his alchemy, meditation, and Qi Gong lineage. My first clinical instructor, randomly assigned to me, was esoteric Shen acupuncturist Andrew Huey, who changed my trajectory and scope of what East Asian medicine is and can do. Through him, I became the last student of the late Dr. Harijot Singh Khalsa, an elder with knowledge to share beyond measure, exceeded only by his humility. Currently I’m in a two year course of study with the White Pine Institute on acupuncture and herbalism in menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, and menopause.

I have worked with holistic therapist Caty Shannon on and off for over a decade and have received acupuncture from Sarah Gamble, L.Ac for many years before ever becoming a practitioner myself. And before I knew what acupuncture was, I worked with late stage cancer patients at UCSF and UCLA. Through them, learned about the arc of a lifetime, which includes illness, decline, and death. May it not be such a surprise when I meet these teachers for myself. I consider these relationships to be my greatest learning experiences. To these teachers and to the many friends and guides I have met along the way, I give my great thanks.
